This section holds first-level degree thesis projects in terminology. For what concerns the Theory and Techniques of the Interlinguistic Mediation course, the projects consist in creating a bilingual or trilingual glossary of about 40 terms. These final projects represent actual small terminology projects, since the thesis student is responsible for all the design and creation stages of the glossary:

• choosing the subject field of the glossary, which usually derives from the student’s personal and professional interests; they are often involved in traineeships and internships at external companies in the third year;
• researching the documentation and examining it for the terminology extraction, during which the student is helped with the validation by an expert in the chosen field;
• choosing the fields of the terminology record. The Multilingual Integrated System for the Creation of Glossaries (Sistema Integrato Multilingua per la Realizzazione di Glossari, SIMURG), allows – apart from the mandatory fields for all Ce.R.Te.M. glossaries – a number of optional fields, thus making our glossaries “variable-geometry” glossaries;
• creating and eventually validating the glossary records – with the help of the referent professor and the specialist – which ends with the online upload of the glossary.

The student therefore manages all the project stages. They will be able to work on the internal consistency of the premises and the fulfillment of initial criteria of the outcome. In particular, the single management of the project from the beginning to the publication stage ensures greater consistency in the selection of glossary entries, better internal organization of the conceptual structure of the domain, as well as higher homogeneity in the selection and information processing system. The glossary creation is followed by a theoretical and methodological comment, which clarifies the choices made in the design and creation stages.

Please note that these are not professional glossaries, but rather projects carried out in a beginners’ training context as a first exercise in coherent and complete terminographic editing. This may explain possible omissions or inaccuracies that could arise while consulting the glossaries.

Each glossary has a label indicating its status:

• in progress: the glossary is incomplete – some terms or the records of their equivalents in other languages might be missing;
• complete: the glossary is full;
• updating: the glossary is complete but can be updated with new terms and/or language combinations over time.

In the glossaries of water, organic farming, building stone, and coffee you can select the language for the term search right from the main page, using a drop-down menu. This applies both to the search through the alphabetical index and to the manual search via the Search section. Each terminology record in these glossaries presents its own drop-down menu with the languages that have a translation for that concept.

Instead, in the glossaries of wine, renewable energy, law, oil, and bank and finance you should click on the Customize button on the menu and then select the language. Once selected, whether you go to Index or manually enter the desired term, only the terms in the selected language will be displayed. Each terminology record in these glossaries shows at the side the terms in the other languages that have a translation for that concept.

Lastly, some glossaries present a short introduction in the Welcome or Introduction pages. Here the project is presented and the field of work, the languages taken into consideration, and the terminology record fields are given.
